The 1st of May, 2004 Hungary joined the European Union. Previously a “candidate country, associated member of the EU”. From May 2004 on, a permanent member.

Hungary’s accession to the EU removed the last, few remaining technical obstacles to trade. Hungarian companies and their non-Hungarian partners can at last fully benefit from the opportunities offered by the European Single Market.

What can Hungary and her manufacturing enterprises offer? A rapidly developing infrastructure, now assisted by development funds provided by the EU. An economic environment considered to be one of the most competitive and attractive in the region and mongst emerging economies.

Hungary has a long tradition of making engineering components and products which require considerable human skills. Hungary also has highly qualified, competitive labour in a number of manufacturing sectors. This labour is capable to handle the most up-to-date technologies and is noted for a “can-do spirit”.

Figures speak for themselves

Hourly Labour Costs in 2002 for Production Workers in Manufacturing:

EU-15=100%

Hungary=100%

A growing number of export-oriented, leading multinational manufacturing companies are a strong feedback on this. General Motors, General Electric, Audi, Suzuki, Ford, Nokia – just to name a few – are all present. Alfytec Ltd is representative of a growing number of Hungarian enterprises ready to face the challenges of the European Single Market. Subcontract a variety of engineering products to Alfytec and you will not have to compromise on quality. The gains in reduced costs will be proven!
